1986 is the magic year Alain Broekaert got the unique chance to start with the import of the brand Pepe Jeans®. Pepe Jeans, until then located in the Brussels “Triangle”, was known for its unique washes and short term deliveries of five pockets.
With its huge success Pepe Jeans Belgium has become one of the main players on the jeans market in Belgium and Luxembourg. To strengthen this success and to make the Group Broekaert a long term player, it was crucial to spread the risk and add other activities.
In 1995 AB starts the Rapido retail concept. This retail enterprise today has grown into a company with more than 35 shops which are managed by GAB, with Aspasia, Azur, Club Rapido, Pepe Jeans and Tommy Hilfiger the best known concepts.
TOMMY The distribution of Tommy Hilfiger was finalised in 1997 and today has a total turnover of more than 60 million euro Retail and Wholesale in Belux. The Hilfiger activity in Belgium and Luxembourg includes all the textile lines for men and women sportswear, denim, children’s wear, accessories, luggage and shoe collection. With its unique product diversity TH has become a fixed value on the Belux market.
GROWTH The growth was unstoppable and various new projects were started like the new line "K" by Karl Lagerfeld and the clothing collection of Sienna Miller “twent8twelve”, Hackett of London and the Andy Warhol collection. Today GAB in Ternat has a gem of an enterprise which unites all these brands in a unique environment and easily accessible for the extended clientele.
